#1 STATESMEN LOSES GRIP ON THE EAGLES, FALL 69-55

PETERSBURG, VA, February 23, 2014- The Wake Tech Eagles visited Statesman Hall and flew away with a victory defeating the #1 Statesmen 69-55.

Richard Bland (25-2) started off sluggish and could not shake off the pesky visitors. Wake Tech (18-10) came into the game with confidence and momentum winning five of their last six games. The Statesmen were led by Melvin Gregory with 15 points and seven rebounds, Tavon Mealy had eight points and Avery Ugba tossed in six points and pulled down 10 rebounds, Trayvonte Brown grabbed nine boards. Wake Tech was led by Waymond Wright with 19 points and eight rebounds, Josh Mellette with 15 points and eight rebounds and Jamarre Robertson had 13 points for the visitors.

The Statesmen will host Tidewater Community College on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 for a 6:00 pm tip-off.
