BROWN DELIVERS MESSAGE OF MOTIVATION AND COMMITMENT DURING FCA EVENT

PETERSBURG, VA, February 27, 2014- Hampton, Va. native, Marseilles Brown was an Honorable Mention McDonald's All-American as a senior in high school where he broke Allen Iverson's record for points per game with 31.4. He was named CAA Rookie of the Year after his freshman season at  the University of Richmond and in his sophomore season under current Michigan Head Coach John Belein, he was the starting point guard for the 23-8 Spiders who went on the win the CAA tournamentchampionship. During that year, Richmond was a part of one of the biggest upsets in NCAA tournament history as a #14 seed defeating #3 seed South Carolina in the first round in 1998. Brown transferred to Hampton University for his final two season of eligibility. He was yet again, the starting point guard involved in another historical upset, when the 25-6 Pirates seed #15 beat #2 Iowa State a loss in the first round of the2001 NCAA tournament.

The shocking part of his story is that he never worked out after his senior year in high school. He became complacent and more interested in his social life when he went onto college and feels like he has underachieved his entire college career. The flip side of that coin is that he was totally committed to working out throughout high school, where is brother Milan (current head coach at Holy Cross) trained him daily in grueling workouts. He believes and credits his belief in God was the reason for his motivation for life through basketball. Brown now lives in Columbia, SC and a close friend of Chuck Moore, current head coach and athletic director at Richard Bland College.
