No. 6 RICHARD BLAND TOPS CATAWBA VALLEY

HICKORY, N.C. - The Richard Bland College men's basketball team topped the Red Hawks of Catawba Valley, 81-76 on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Statesmen to 16-1 overall and 8-1 in Region X play.

Henrico, Va. native, Reginald Moses led all scorers with 19 points. Following Moses was Tavon Mealy (Armstrong) with 14 points and LeQuan Thomas (Green Run) with nine points.

The Statesmen started the game off to a good start as they managed to gain a 16-8 lead with 11:55 remaining in the first half.

RBC would go into the locker room leading 39-32 at intermission.

As the second half got underway, the Statesmen continued to lead (52-41) at the 13:51 mark.

With under ten minutes left in the game, the Red Hawks made a run to cut the Statesmen deficit to 56-50.

The game became tied at 56 at the 8:12 mark but the Statesmen would regain momentum and go up by six and never looked back to take the victory.

Richard Bland will return action on Sunday, Jan. 18 when they travel to Spartanburg, SC in a non-conference matchup against Spartanburg Methodist. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
