RBC HOOPS FALL AT SPARTANBURG METHODIST

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Richard Bland College men's basketball team dropped to Spartanburg Methodist, 88-74 on Sunday afternoon. The Statesmen drop to 16-2 on the season and 8-1 in the league.

RBC started the game trailing as they allowed the Pioneers to lead 10-6 at the 14:55 mark.

The Pioneers maintained offensive power throughout the first half and would lead 39-31 at halftime over the Statesmen.

As the second half got underway, the Statesmen continued to struggle offensively.

They allowed Spartanburg Methodist to build a 61-38 lead with 8:19 remaining in the game.

The Statesmen were unable to find any rhythm and struggled to keep up with the Pioneers which resulted in a 88-74 loss.

Tavon Mealy (Armstrong) tallied 24 points to lead RBC, following LeQuan Thomas with 13 points and Avery Ugba (Blake) who added 12 points in the loss.

The Statesmen return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 21 when they host conference foe Pitt Community College. The contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
