No. 2 Richard Bland Earns Road Win At Catawba Valley (N.C.) 105-68

HICKORY, N.C. -- Sophomore Tim Bing Jr./Suitland, Maryland matched his career-high with a game-high 21 points to lead preseason No. 2 Richard Bland College to a 105-68 Region 10 men's basketball road win at Catawba Valley (N.C.) Community College on Saturday evening in Hickory, North Carolina.  Redshirt-freshman Tyler Lloyd/Manassas added a career-high 17 points, along with a game-high 10 rebounds, for his first collegiate double-double for the visiting nationally-ranked Statesmen (8-2, 3-0 Region 10).  Tyrell Oglesby scored 13 points for the host Red Hawks (3-5, 0-1 Region 10).  Richard Bland will have a week off for fall semester examinations before playing at Guilford Technical (N.C.) Community College next Sunday, December 10, at 2 p.m. in Jamestown, North Carolina.

Richard Bland used a 30-11 run to close the opening half for a 45-27 advantage at the intermission.  Catawba Valley managed to get within 53-41 early in the second half, but the Statesmen answered with a 15-4 run to lead 68-44.  Richard Bland maintained control while increasing its margin toward the 37-point road win. 

Bing led Richard Bland with his career-high 21 points, including five three-point field goals, adding six assists.  Lloyd added his career-high 17 points, along with his game-high 10 rebounds, for his first collegiate double-double.  Sophomore Ricky Hicks/Bronx, New York finished with 14 points, adding a game-high 10 assists to match his career-high for his first collegiate double-double, as well, along with six steals to also equal his career-high.  Classmate Robert Smith/Hampton contributed 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals.  Sophomores Deon Joyner/North Charleston, South Carolina and Tre' Patterson/Richmond each scored eight points, while freshman Ryan Jones/Smithfield had five points and five assists. 

Following this week's exam break and the road game next Sunday at Guilford Tech, Richard Bland will remain on the road at Fayetteville Technical (N.C.) Community College on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
