No. 12 Richard Bland Drops Road Contest At Pitt (N.C.) 84-69

WINTERVILLE, N.C. -- Sophomore Tim Bing Jr./Suitland, Maryland scored 17 points, though No. 12 Richard Bland College dropped an 84-69 Region 10 men's basketball road decision at Pitt (N.C.) Community College on Wednesday night in Winterville, North Carolina.  Sophomore Robert Smith/Hampton added 11 points and classmate Stanley Taylor/Petersburg had 10 points for the visiting and nationally-ranked Statesmen (10-4, 4-2) against the host Bulldogs (10-4, 4-3), who received a game-high 31 points from Brandon Faison.

Richard Bland trailed just 35-30 at halftime, and was within 59-57 with six minutes remaining before Pitt used a 14-6 run to lead 73-63 with 1:30 left to play.  The Bulldogs extended their game-ending run to 25-12 for the final margin.

Bing led Richard Bland with his 17 points, adding six assists.  Smith finished with his 11 points, adding six rebounds, while Taylor contributed his 10 points, adding eight rebounds.  Redshirt-sophomore Brandon Henry/Chester and redshirt-freshman Tyler Lloyd/Manassas each had seven points.  Henry was playing in his first game this season for the Statesmen. 

Richard Bland was playing its first game since December 15, and will remain on the road to play at Region 10 opponent Lenoir (N.C.) Community College on Saturday, January 13, at 3 p.m. in Kinston, North Carolina.
