Statesmen Fall To Harcum, 73-57

BRYN MAWR, PA -- The Richard Bland College of William & Mary men's basketball team fell to Harcum College Thursday night by a score of 73-57. This was the second game of the night and one of five games to be played in the three days at the Harcum Invitational Tournament.

With the loss, the Statesmen fall to 0-5 on the season and will face Harford College Friday, November 16 at 5 pm at the Harcum Invitational Tournament. Harcum improved to a record of 5-0 and will face Eastern Florida State College Friday, November 16 at 7 pm. 

The Statesmen continued to battle last night in another hard-fought game, this time with the Harcum Bears. Harcum began to pull away from the Statesmen early and gained a nine-point lead after four minutes of the first half. As the two teams exchanged points, freshman Jalen Spicer hit two big three-point shots that put the Statesmen on the heels of Harcum. The two teams went into halftime with the Statesmen trailing by four points for a score of 33-29. Harcum came out strong in the second half and opened up their lead to 12 points with nine minutes remaining in the game. Sophomore Wayne Clevert came off the bench to provide the Statesmen with much-needed firepower from behind the arc. Going 4-6 from behind the 3-point line, Clevert brought the Statesmen to within three points of the Harcum Bears with five minutes remaining. The Statesmen were unable to close the gap and ended the game with a final score of 73-57.
