Men's Basketball Defeat CCBC Dundalk, 79-55

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA -- The Richard Bland College of William & Mary men's basketball team defeated CCBC Dundalk 79-55 Saturday, December 1 at Statesman Gym.

With the victory, the Statesmen improve to 3-6 on the season and will next travel to nationally ranked #24 Cape Fear on Wednesday, December 5 for a 7pm tipoff. CCBC Dundalk falls to 2-8 on the season.

The Statesmen received their second win at home on Wednesday, 28. The Statesmen only trailed behind the Lions once in the game when the Lions hit a three-point shot putting them up 3-2 with 18:20 remaining in the first half. The Statesmen quickly regained the lead with an assist by sophomore Marvin Trotman to freshman Jordan Cross for a three-point shot with 18:00 remaining. The Lions continued to fight throughout the first half, pressuring the Statesmen ball handlers to change the pace of the game. Richard Bland's guards stayed calm and collected against the pressure and helped give their team a solid 22 point lead at halftime with a score of 47-25.

Richard Bland came out solid in the second half to keep a significant scoring margin throughout the rest of the game. The final score was 79-55. Cross led the Statesmen in scoring with 14 points. Sophomore Sterling Carrington led in rebounds with eight. Collectively, the Statesmen had 16 assists. The team will return home in Statemen Hall next Saturday, December 8 when they face the Carolina Basketball Academy.
