Statesmen Fall to Allegany, 85-62

CUMBERLAND, MD -- The Richard Bland College of William & Mary fell to Allegany College of Maryland on Thursday night by a final score of 85-62.

The Statesmen move to 6-18 on the season while the Trojans of Allegany College of Maryland improve to 16-11. Richard Bland will return to action on Saturday, February 23 at 2 pm for sophomore night when they face conference opponent Denmark.

The Trojans made a strong push from the start of the game as they opened the game at home in Bob Kirk Arena. By the end of the first half, the Trojans had made 11 three-point shots putting them up 48-31 at halftime. The start of the second half brought a lot of back and forth between the two teams. By the eight-minute mark, the Statesmen found their way down ten points by a score of 62-52. Unfortunately, this would be the closest the Statesmen would get for the remainder of the game. The Trojans made valuable free throws and capitalized off the Statesmen's turnovers to secure the win.

Freshman Jordan Cross led the Statesmen with 23 points. Two games remain in conference play for Richard Bland before Region X Tournament play begins on March 7.
