Statesmen Blocked at Cape Fear Game

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA - The Richard Bland College of William & Mary men's basketball team played against Cape Fear Community College with great distinction. After asserting the lead in the first half, the Statesmen ultimately fell short against the Sea Devils 83-60. 

The Statesmen move to 9-10 this season and will next host Brunswick Community College on Saturday, February 1 at 3 p.m.

Five minutes into the first half, Kenneth Southerland asserts the Statesmen as the game leader with 10 points. Jared Watkins followed suit with a cunning steal from the other side, securing additional points for the Statesmen. Still in the lead, Antonio Puaauli-Pelham sets K. Southerland up for a dunk exhibiting the power of the Statesmen. Entering the second half, Cape Fear took a slight lead over the Statesmen, despite electrifying advances on the part of the Statesmen. While RBC asserted themselves as game leaders at the onset of the game, Cape Fear presented the Statesmen with a competitive defense costing the Statesmen the game.

Scoring for the Statesmen is K. Southerland, Darius Jones, J. Watkins, Derrick Redmon, Corbin Slayton, Malique Gordon, Terry Gray Jr., and Savion Helm.
