SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Men's Basketball team moves to 2-2 overall after hosting the Nighthawks of Northern Virginia Community College Wednesday evening.
The Statesmen held a narrow 29-28 lead at the half, and came out victorious, 69-62 at the final buzzer. Three Statesmen scored double figures to push Richard Bland past the Nighthawks. Martin Kawa led all scoring with 24 points and added two rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block. Kelby Saunders Jr. was one rebound short of a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. Saunders Jr. also added three steals for Richard Bland. Ben Jones chipped in with 11 points and two rebounds, while Eric Wood added eight points and nine rebounds off the bench.
The Richard Bland College men's basketball team next travels to Ettrick, Virginia for a contest with the Virginia State University JV squad on Monday, November 14th at 7pm.
