Men’s Basketball Defeats Sea Devils In Overtime Thriller

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA - The Richard Bland College men's basketball team moves to 8-4 overall, 2-0 in conference play after traveling to Cape Fear Community College Saturday afternoon.

Richard Bland held a narrow 32-23 lead over Cape Fear at the half. The scoring in the second half would be reversed at the end of regulation to remain a 55-55 tie. The Statesmen would hold on and outscore the Sea Devils 8-2 in overtime to seal the conference win on the road. Martin Kawa led the scoring for the Statesmen with 18 points. Larry Howell earned his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 boards. Howell also added three steals. Kevon West chipped in with nine points, three steals and two rebounds. Noryen Lasley had eight points and five rebounds off the bench. Eric Wood had seven points and 12 boards, while Ben Jones added six points, seven rebounds and three steals.

The Richard Bland men's basketball team next hosts Harford Community College on Tuesday, December 13^th in a non conference contest. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
