Statesmen Rebound With Win Over Rhinos

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA - The Richard Bland College men's basketball team moves to 12-16 overall, 4-7 in conference play after traveling to Gaston College Saturday afternoon.

After a tight first half battle, Gaston held a three point, 27-24 lead at the break. The Statesmen went on to outscore the Rhinos 40-35 in the second half and would bring home the narrow road victory, 64-62.

Four Statesmen scored double-digit figures led by Kevon West with 16 points, three assists, two rebounds, and two steals. Martin Kawa added 14 points, three rebounds, two steals, and one assist. Larry Howell and Jordan Morris added 13 points each. Howell also added six rebounds, two blocks, one assist, and one steal while Morris added one rebound, one assist, and one steal in the win.

Richard Bland went 57.9% from the charity stripe, 39.3% from the field, and 35.7% at the perimeter.

The Richard Bland College men's basketball team next hosts Cape Fear Community College in a rescheduled contest on Wednesday, March 1^st at 6pm. Prior to tip-off, the men's basketball program will recognize the team's sophomores in a sophomore day celebration. The first 200 students with student ID will receive two free slices of pizza!
