Brown Scores 30 as Men’s Basketball Wins Big in Home Opener
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team hosted the Washington Adventist University JV squad in their home opener Monday evening. After completion of the game, the Statesmen moved to 1-3 overall after defeating the Shock, 83-48.
Richard Bland outscored the Statesmen 41-24 for a comfortable lead, heading into the break. The Statesmen scored 42 more points, and allowed 24 in the second half, to hold on for a 35-point non-conference victory at home.
Doyle Brown led all scorers with 30 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Off the bench, Andy Ramirez scored his first double-double of the season with 20 points, 10 points, six assists, and one steal. Dove Fishburne chipped in with 11 points, five assists, four rebounds, and one steal. Emmanuel Vonhm added nine points and six rebounds, Jack Ticic six points and four rebounds, and Stacy Byrd five rebounds and three points for the Statesmen. Jalen Smith led the boards with 13, in the win.
Richard Bland shot 50.9% from the field, 76.9% from the perimeter, and 43.8% from the charity stripe.
The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team next hosts Bryant & Stratton College (VA) on Thursday, November 21st. The non-conference contest tip-off is set for 6pm.
