SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team hosted Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute, for their first meeting of the season with the Cobras. After completion of the game, the Statesmen moved to 6-12 overall, 6-4 in conference play after defeating the Cobras at home.
Saturday afternoon, the Statesmen battled the Cobras in a fast-paced, back and forth game, resulting in a 38-36, two-point lead after the first half. In the second half, the Statesmen propelled on offense, outscoring the Cobras by 15, to coast to a 83-66 conference victory at home.
Doyle Brown led the way with 27 points, six rebounds, and two assists on the afternoon. Andy Ramirez added 23 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Jalen Smith chipped in with his fifth triple-double of the season notching 12 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds. Jermaine Coston Jr. scored his fourth double-double of the season tallying 11 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Off the bench, Emmanuel Vonhm added nine points and three rebounds, Richard Agbo one point and one rebound, and Christian Chambers one rebound for Richard Bland.
Richard Bland shot 56.4% from the field, 47.4% from the perimeter, and 57.1% from the charity stripe.
The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team next hosts USC Salkehatchie on Friday, February 14th in a 7pm conference contest.
