STATESMEN FALL TO WAKE TECH ON THE ROAD

Raleigh, NC, September 18, 2013- The Statesman only trailed 1-0 at intermission, but could not keep up. The Wake Technical Community College Eagles flew by Richard Bland in the second half out scoring the Statesmen 3-1, enroute to a 4-1 victory at WRAL Field in Raleigh, NC.

The first half was very competitive with possesion in favor of Wake Tech. The home team's first goal was an uncontested shot outside the 18 yard box. The injury sufferred to freshman Maxwell Chambers stopped the game 30 minutes into the first half. The Statesmen went into the half after an emotional break down only 1-0. Wake Tech began the second half with two quick goals moving ahead 3-0. The Statesmen displayed a glimpse of light when Diego Ona-Rodriguez split the defense with a beautiful through ball to Daniel Winfield, who then cut back and lays the ball off at the top of the box to Marcus Carter, who ripped a shot to the upper right corner for his fourth goal of the season. The game ended with 23 shots for Wake Tech to five by the Statesmen. Goalkeeper Doug Jackson had 10 total saves for the game.  

The Statesmen will travel to #2 nationally ranked Louisburg College in North Carolina this Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. The Statesmen will host USC-Lancaster on Sunday, September 22, 2013 for a 2:00 p.m. home match.
