STATESMEN SOCCER TRAVEL TO LOUISBURG IN REGION X TOURNAMENT

PETERSBRUG, Va. – After a thrilling win over USC Lancaster on Monday afternoon, the Richard Bland men's soccer team will face off with Louisburg College in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region X first round, slated for Wednesday, Oct. 29th at 4 p.m. at Ronald R. May Field.

The Statesmen (5-12-1) posted an 8-0 victory vs. USC Lancaster – the ninth seed in the tournament – on Monday in the NJCAA Region X Tournament. The Statesmen got four goals from freshman Godfred Obed-Baisel to post the win over Lancers, RBC was 1-1 with the Lancers on the season prior to Monday's contest.

Obed-Baisel now has 21 goals on the season, becoming the first player in program history to score goals in a single-season as a freshman.

Richard Bland netted eight goals, the most in a game all season as they owned advantages in shots and corners. Kameron Smith added two goals, while both Lawrence Braxton and Kevin Fredriksson tallied one goal apiece.

Andrew Piner and Eduardo Quintanilla led in assists for the Statesmen as they both tallied two apiece, following Daniel Moultrie, Larry Sawyer, Kevin Fredriksson and Lawrence Braxton one assist each.

The match with RBC and Louisburg will be a rematch of an Oct. 24 game in Louisburg that saw the Hurricanes get an 8-0 win over the Statesmen.

The Hurricanes have posted an impressive mark at Ronald R. May Field, behind a boisterous student section, with a 15-2-1 record on the year.

The contest with the Hurricanes will determine the fate for the NJCAA Tournament Semi-Finals, slated for Saturday at 9 a.m.
