Statesmen Defeat USC Union On The Road

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA---The Richard Bland College of William & Mary men's soccer team defeated USC Union 11-3 this afternoon at Union Soccer Field.
 
With this result, the Statesmen improved to 11-2-2 and will next travel to Wake Tech on Tuesday, October 16 for a 2:30pm kickoff.

In the first half, the Statesmen got their first goal from freshman Brian Guerrero off an assist from freshman Caleb Lilley. Sophomore Romeo Kayizali doubled the lead when he was assisted by Guerrero. USC scored a goal back right before the Statesmen received goals from Kayizali assisted by freshman Antonio Ferreira, and Lilley assisted by Ferreira for a 5-1 lead. USC scored their second goal off a direct free kick to make it 5-2. Freshman Armando Mondragon scored the Statesmen 6th goal in the first half right before USC had another free kick that headed past the Statesmen goalie for a 6-3 half time score. In the second half, the Statesmen continued where they left off in the first with 5 unanswered goals from Guerrero assisted by sophomore Hector Rivera; Mondragon unassisted; freshman Ali Sohail assisted by sophomore Umar Mujahid, Lilley unassisted; and then Lilley completed his hat trick when he scored off an assist from freshman Gorka Delgado for an 11-3 final score.
