SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA -- The Richard Bland College of William & Mary men's soccer team took their 11th straight win against Wake Technical Community College on Friday at Willcox Field.
The Statesmen move to 12-1 on the season and will travel to Louisburg College on Tuesday, October 15 at 2 p.m.
On the beautiful October afternoon, the Statesmen established a four goal lead in the first half that was equally beautiful. Within the first five minutes, Gonzalo Bazan scored with an assist from Mattew Ridley. Another five minutes later, Gorka Delgado was granted a free opportunity for a goal with a penalty kick, which he took full advantage of. With the score at 2-0, Bazan came back for another goal with an assist from the Goalkeeper, Aitor Ruiz de Eguilaz. With three minutes remaining in the half, Delgado assisted Moses Mora to ensure a final goal for the Statesmen before halftime.
In the second half, RBC was finished scoring. However, they were not finished on defense. After a goal from Wake Tech, Aitor Ruiz de Eguilaz upped the ante with two pivotal saves to keep the score at 4-1. With the early lead in the first half and the stunning defense in the second, the Statesmen walked away victorious.
