Men’s Soccer Has Strong Start in Season Opener

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College men's soccer team opened the season at 1-0 overall and in conference play after defeating USC Salkehatchie at home, Friday afternoon.

 

Richard Bland got on the board in the second minute of the game when Nicholas Ihnat pushed one past the keeper. The score remained 1-0 until the 78th minute when Ian MacArthur found the back of the net off a ball from Ihnat. Richard Bland went on to defeat conference opponent, USC Salkehatchie 2-0. Ihnat was credited with five shots, Eric Calderon had four, and Jeffrey Espinoza and MacArthur had three each. Thomas Seymour made three saves in goal for the Statesmen.

 

The Richard Bland men's soccer team next travels to Spartanburg Methodist College on Tuesday, August 29th for a 1pm conference match.
