SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College men's soccer team once again traveled to South Carolina Sunday afternoon to face off against the Indians of USC Salkehatchie. In the game, the Statesmen picked up a shutout win, 2-0, moving to 2-0-1 in conference play and overall.
The score remained even through 79 minutes of play as the Statesmen battled against the Indians. In the 80th minute, Daniel Nunfio ruined USC Salkehatchie's day by pushing the game-winner passed the Salkehatchie goalkeeper, off a pass from Emilio Mesa Betancur. Victor Manuel sealed the win for the Statesmen when Manuel and Juan Santana teamed up in the 84th minute, for a 2-0 Richard Bland victory.
Nate Newberry played all 90 minutes between the pipes and was credited with seven saves, in his first career, clean sheet. Richard Bland totaled 16 shots and five corner kicks on the day.
The Richard Bland College men's soccer team next travels to USC Lancaster on Friday, September 13th for a 3pm conference contest.
