Zogbi, Manuel Lead Statesmen in Big Conference Win

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College men's soccer team hosted the Lancers of USC Lancaster for their second conference meeting of the season Friday Afternoon. Richard Bland earned a 2-0 victory, moving the Statesmen to 6-4-4 overall and 6-2-3 in conference play.

The score remained even through the first 45 minutes of play this afternoon. Both teams battled back and forth, constantly pressuring each other's defenses. In the 70^th minute, Richard Bland drew a foul in the penalty box. Diego Zogbi stepped up to take the penalty kick for the Statesmen and hit the low corner, away from the Lancers' keeper, to put the Statesmen ahead 1-0. In the 84^th minute, Victor Manuel received a pass from Patrick Dane and took his defender 1v1, capitalizing on the inside angle he was given in the box, and found the back of the net to seal the win.

Thomas Seymour played all 90 minutes in net for the Statesmen. He was credited with six saves on the day.

The Richard Bland College men's soccer team next hosts USC Salkehatchie on Sunday, October 13^th. Kickoff is scheduled for 1pm.
