WASHINGTON LEADS THE WAY FOR STATESMEN TRACK

FAIRFAX, VA, February 1, 2014-Richard Bland College's Joshua Washington placed second in the men's 200 meters with a time of 21.92 and then finished seventh leading off the 4x400 meter relay team consisting of team members  Adrian Jackson, Maxwell Chambers and Nick Okoebor at the Patriot Games held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.

The freshmen from Triangle, VA registered time was better then last week when he placed for nationals against a very competitive field of runners representing several NCAA Division 1 institutions. 

Maxwell Chambers placed sixth out of 32 runners in the 800 meters. His time of 1:59.64 quailified for nationals.

Nick Okoebor placed sixth out of 28 runners in the 400 meters, he clocked in a season best time of 50.90.

James Drummond and Jacob Butler both finished 15th out of 31 runners in their respective heats with times of 23.46 and 23.80 respectively.

Butler also finished with a time of 7.21 in the 60 meters, barely missing the top half of the field of 48 runners, placing 28th.

On the women's side,  Shamara Russell ran a season best 8.03 time in the 60 meters and placed 19th out of 36 in the 200 meters.

Cassandra Nnaji placed 11th out of 29 throwers with a distance of 10.40 meters in the shot put.

Richard Bland now travels to Hampton, VA, to compete in the Vince Brown Invitational, to be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 9:00 am.
