STATESMEN SOFTBALL CLIMBS UP THE NATIONAL POLLS TO #10
PETERSBURG, VA, April 11, 2014-The Richard Bland Statesmen Softball team climbed back into the national rankings and even climbed two notches to #10. The Statesmen had a stellar week in order to advance among the nation's best teams by defeating three very competitive conference squads and completing the week with a perfect 6-0 record.
Richard Bland is the lone representative in the polls from NJCAA Region X (Division II) this week. The Statesmen are led by a solid pitching tandem of Tara Heatwole and McKenzie Love, while Sierra Ford, Ayannah Bowman-Williams, Taylor Slate, and Amberly Alston contribute on both ends of the spectrum. In addition, Marybeth Latham, Rebecca Condrey, Krysten Davis, Jordan Byrd, Meredith Lee, and Toria Arnett round out the supporting cast for the Statesmen.
The Statesmen will travel this weekend to North Carolina to face Wake Technical Community College (Raleigh) and Southeastern Community College-Whiteville (Whiteville).
