Softball Drops 2 To Pitt

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Softball team moves to 0-2 in conference play, 0-2 overall after the first game of the 2022 season. The Statesmen host Pitt Community College Tuesday afternoon for a conference doubleheader.

 

In game 1, Richard Bland watched the game slip away early and could not recover in a 14-2 loss. The Statesmen struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Bulldogs. Erin Miles, Brianna Correa, Alyssa Martinez, and Emmalee Lawson each had 1 hit to lead the Statesmen. Miles took the loss for Richard Bland allowing nine hits and nine runs over two innings, striking out two. Maggie Linthicum came in for relief, throwing three innings, allowing 6 hits and 5 runs.

 

In game 2, a double by Erin Miles in the first inning was a positive for Richard Bland. Miles, Alexis Brandt, and Alyssa Martinez each managed one hit to lead the Statesmen. Casey Hart took the loss for Richard Bland. The southpaw lasted four and a third innings, allowing 13 hits and 13 runs while striking out four.

 

Richard Bland softball next hosts Wake Tech Community College in a conference doubleheader on Friday, March 4th beginning at 3pm.
