Cobras Capture Early Lead To Defeat Statesmen

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Softball team moves to 2-4 in conference play, 2-4 overall after traveling to Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute this afternoon.

 

In game 1, Richard Bland watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 11-3 conference loss. Richard Bland struggled to put runs on the board. Richard Bland notched three runs in the second inning led by Emma Fleming and Casey hart, both driving in runs. Lily Curtis started the game for the Statesmen allowing three runs while walking two. Hart took the loss for Richard Bland. The lefthander went five and a third innings, allowing eight runs on 12 hits, striking out two and walking zero. Hart led Richard Bland with three hits in three at bats.

 

In game 2, Erin Miles took the loss for Richard Bland. The righty lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out one and walking zero. Maggie Linthicum started the game for the Statesmen and lasted four and a third innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out one.

 

Richard Bland softball will spend the night and travel to Hickory, NC for a conference doubleheader tomorrow, March 15th at Catawba Valley Community College beginning at 12pm.
