Softball Earns Pair Of Wins In Sweep Over Southeastern

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Softball team moves to 5-11 in conference play, 7-11 overall after hosting Southeastern Community College-Whiteville in a conference doubleheader this afternoon.

 

In game 1, Southeastern scored four runs in the first inning, but Richard Bland held on to win 6-5. Erin Miles earned the win for Richard Bland. Miles lasted six innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out two and walking zero. Maggie Linthicum started the game for Richard Bland. Linthicum lasted one inning, allowing two hits and four runs while striking out one and walking zero. Casey Hart led Richard Bland with two hits in four at bats.

 

In game 2, despite allowing four runs in the seventh inning, Richard Bland defeated Southeastern 9-6 in the night cap. The Statesmen collected 11 hits and Southeastern had seven in the high scoring affair. Alexis Brandt, Lily Curtis, and Emma Fleming all had multiple hits for Richard Bland. In the first inning, Richard Bland got their offense started on an error, scoring two runs. The Statesmen tallied three runs in the third inning on a single by Emmalee Lawson. Casey Hart earned the victory on the rubber for Richard Bland. Hart allowed seven hits and six runs over seven innings, striking out four.

 

Richard Bland softball next travels to Martha Rivers Park for a conference doubleheader against Gaston College, on Friday, April 15th. The first pitch is set for 3pm.
