Strong Offensive Outing Leads Softball Past Cleveland

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Softball team moves to 7-11 in conference play, 9-11 overall after traveling to Cleveland Community College this afternoon.

 

In game 1, Casey Hart got the 10-1 win for Richard Bland. The pitcher went six innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out nine and walking zero. Richard Bland notched five runs in the fifth inning led by Gracie Fisher and Emmalee Lawson. Richard Bland collected ten hits in the game including two home runs. Alyssa Martinez had a four bagger in the fifth inning, while Hart went yard in the sixth. Lily Curtis and Erin Miles each managed multiple hits for Richard Bland. Richard was sure-handed and did not commit a single error. Lawson made the most plays with nine.

 

In game 2, Lily Curtis had a busy day at the plate, smacking four hits in the 12-3 victory. Curtis singled in the first, tripled in the fourth, homered in the fifth, and singled in the sixth. Richard Bland fired up the offense in the first inning. The Statesmen scored two runs when Alexis Brandt singled. In the fourth inning, Richard Bland put up four additional runs. Casey Hart, Brandt, Erin Miles, and Jahaira Medrano each had RBIs in the inning. Richard Bland racked up 17 hits in the game. Curtis, Hart, Gracie Fisher, and Brandt each had multiple hits. Hart and Curtis each managed four hits to lead the offense. Erin Miles led things off on the rubber for the Statesmen. The righthander lasted two and a third innings, allowing three hits and three runs, while striking out four=

 

Richard Bland softball next travels to Paul D. Camp Community College on Monday, April 14th. The first pitch of the doubleheader is set for 11am.
