Softball Splits With Florence-Darlington

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Softball team moves to 10-12 in conference play, 12-12 overall after hosting Florence-Darlington Technical College Saturday afternoon.

 

In game 1, Richard Bland fought through 10 innings but fell short, 5-0. Casey Hart was in the pitcher's circle for Richard Bland. The lefty surrendered three runs on six hits over nine and two-thirds innings, striking out six. Maggie Linthicum threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Emma Fleming, Jahaira Medrano, and Hart all had one hit to lead the Statesmen offense.

 

In game 2, Florence-Darlington got on the board in the first inning when an error scored one run. Richard Bland pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. Casey Hart led the offensive attack with a solo homer in the second. Erin Miles led things off in the pitcher's circle for Richard Bland. Miles went six innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out four. Richard Bland racked up 15 hits. Alexis Brandt, Hart, Tabitha Fisher, Alyssa Martinez, Jahaira Medrano, and Emma Fleming all had multiple hits for Richard Bland. Brandt went 3-for-4 at the plate.

 

Richard Bland softball next travels to Southwest Virginia Community College on Saturday, April 30th. The first pitch of the doubleheader is set for 12pm.
