Softball Earns Road Sweep Over Hurricanes

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Softball team moves to 14-12 in conference play, 16-12 overall after traveling to Paul D. Camp Community College Tuesday evening.

 

In game 1, Erin Miles came to the ballpark and meant business on Tuesday, driving in four on two hits to lead Richard Bland past Camp Community College 11-2. Miles drove in runs on a single in the first and a double in the second. Richard Bland scoring four runs in the second inning. The rally was led by a single by Gracie Fisher and a double by Miles. The Statesmen tallied nine hits. Alexis Brandt, Fisher and Miles each had multiple hits for Richard Bland. Brandt led with three hits in three at bats. Miles earned the win in the circle for the Statesmen. The righty allowed four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out two, and walking two. Maggie Linthicum

 

In game 2, Richard Bland defeated the Hurricanes 7-3 in a shortened game due to lightning in the area. Casey Hart was on the rubber for Richard Bland. The pitcher allowed two hits and three runs over six innings, striking out four and walking one. Alyssa Martinez and Hart each managed two hits to lead Richard Bland to victory. Erin Miles earned two RBI on a double in the third and a sac fly in the fifth.

 

Richard Bland softball next hosts Bryant & Stratton (VA) Bobcats on Wednesday, May 4th for Sophomore Day, for the final doubleheader of the regular season. The team will recognize Alyssa Martinez, Sam Denney, Erin Miles, and Alexis Brandt.
