Statesmen Fall In Opening Round

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Softball team finishes 16-12 in conference play, 18-13 overall after competing against Florence-Darlington Technical College in the Region 10 South Atlantic District Tournament this afternoon.

Richard Bland lost the lead late in a 7-4 defeat this afternoon. The game was tied at four with Florence-Darlington batting in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored two runs for Florence-Darlington. Richard Bland lost despite out-hitting the Stingers. Richard Bland got on the board in the second inning. Emma Fleming drew a walk, scoring one run. Richard Bland totaled eight hits. Fisher, Martinez, and Curtis each managed two hits to lead the offense. Casey Hart was in the pitcher's circle for Richard Bland. The lefthander allowed seven hits and seven runs over four and a third innings, striking out two and walking one. Erin Miles threw one and two-thirds innings in relief.

Richard Bland softball finished the season as the 9^th seed in the Region 10 Division II conference.
