Statesmen Struggle Against Rams

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Softball team moves to 7-13 overall, 7-12 in conference play after traveling to Southeastern Community College-Whiteville on Saturday, March 30th.

 

Game one scheduled for Friday, March 29th was cancelled due to field conditions.

 

In game two, Southeastern Community College defeated Richard Bland 0-8 thanks in part to five runs in the fourth inning. Southeastern were the first to get on the board in the second, on a single, scoring two runs. Taylor Green made the most of her chances at the plate. The number nine hitter led the team with two hits in two at bats. Richard Bland turned one double play in the game. McKynzi Dawson took the loss for Richard Bland. The right-handed pitcher went four innings, giving up eight runs on nine hits, striking out four and walking four.

 

In game three, Richard Bland struggled to keep up with the Rams in a 0-8 loss. Southeastern got on the board in the bottom of the first inning scoring four runs, and didn't look back as they added four more in the second. Sara Graham went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Richard Bland in hits. Graham began the game on the mound for Richard Bland. The righty surrendered four hits and seven runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking three. Elexyona Moore took the loss for the Statesmen. The right-handed pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, surrendering one run on three hits, striking out four and walking two.

 

The Richard Bland College softball team next hosts Camp Community College on Wednesday, April 10th in a 3pm nonconference doubleheader.
