Women's Soccer Continues Impressive First Season

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William & Mary women's soccer team recorded its second win on Tuesday, defeating Patrick Henry 5-0.

With their second win, the Statesmen move to 2-0 and are scheduled to face at USC Lancaster in Lancaster, South Carolina on Saturday, August 31, at 2 pm.

Alexia Spencer took the lead eight minutes in with the team's first goal of the game.  The Statesmen followed it up with a goal from Abegail Richardson eighteen minutes into the game.  Richardson was not done in the half and would finish the half scoring a goal with only thirty three seconds left. The Statesmen held their own until Richardson broke through and scored the first goal of the second half seventeen minutes into it. Half way through the second half, the Statesmen successfully defended an intimidating charge from the other side to prevent a score to turn around and add one of their own. Richardson scored the last goal of the game with twelve minutes remaining to complete the game's final score of 5-0.

Assistant Women's Soccer Coach Meghan Mauzy said, "We are proud of the way the girls worked hard together to win yet another game."

Abegail Richardson finished the game with four goals and Alexia Spencer scored one goal of her own.
