SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William & Mary women's soccer team made a strong effort against CCBC Essex College Sunday, September 15. Even with the Statesmen's defense, CCBC Essex led 8-1.
The Statesmen move to 2-4 this season and the team will play Wake Technical Community College on Willcox Field Thursday, September 19, at 2 p.m.
The team successfully came together to defend a charge from CCBC Essex with 20 minutes into the first half. Despite facing low odds by the end of the first half, the Statesmen showed CCBC Essex they were not finished in the second half with Alexia Spencer securing a goal for the Statesmen within the first 20 minutes.
Meghan Mauzy, assistant women's soccer coach, said, "We may have fallen behind in the first half, but we came out fighting in the second half."
