Women’s Soccer Drops Non-Conference Game to Knights

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College women's soccer team traveled to CCBC Essex Saturday afternoon for a nonconference contest with the Knights, a NJCAA Region 20 contender. In the game, the Statesmen were shut-out, moving to 1-1-1 overall, 0-0-1 in conference play.

 

The Knights got on the board in the 6th minute of play, taking an early 0-1 lead over the Statesmen. The score remained 0-1 through the remainder of the first half. Nine minutes into the second half, the Knights added to their lead, 0-2. The Knights tallied again in the 73rd minute, and the final eight seconds of the game to solidify their home victory, 0-4 over Richard Bland.

 

Grace Pope led the offense with two shots on goal, and Jenna Autry one in the game. The Statesmen also earned one corner kick on the day. Emily Orn played all 90 minutes between the pipes and was credited with seven saves.

 

The Richard Bland College women's soccer team next hosts their home opener against Louisburg College on Wednesday, September 11th at 3pm. In the first meeting, the Statesmen and Hurricanes tied 0-0 through regulation.
