Women’s Soccer Falls in Final Regular Season Match, Preps for Region Tournament

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College women's soccer team traveled to Cape Fear Community College on Saturday, October 19th for their second meeting of the regular season with the Sea Devils, and final regular season game. At the conclusion of the match, the Statesmen moved to 4-8-1 overall, 1-4-1 in conference play.

 

The score remained level through 37 minutes of play as the Statesmen battled with the Sea Devils. However, in the 38th minute, Cape Fear found the back of net. The score remained 0-1 in favor of Cape Fear at the half. Ten minutes into the second half, Cape Fear struck again, pushing their lead to two. Cape Fear held on through the remaining 35 minutes of the game for a 0-2 victory over Richard Bland.

 

Emily Orn played all 90 minutes in the frame and was credited with eight saves on the day. Sara Sparks led the Statesmen offense with one shot on goal.

 

The Richard Bland College women's soccer team enters the Region 10 Tournament as the #3 seed and will travel to #2 seeded Wake Technical Community College on Tuesday, October 22nd for the Region 10 Division II Semifinals. With a win, the Statesmen will take on the winner of the #1 seeded Cape Fear Community College and #4 Louisburg College, on Saturday, October 26th.
