Pena’s Hat Trick Lifts Statesmen Past USC Sumter

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA — The Richard Bland College Women's Soccer team turned in an impressive road performance on Saturday afternoon, earning a 3-1 win over USC Sumter. With the victory, the Statesmen improved to 6-2-1 overall, showcasing poise and precision on both ends of the field.

 

Rhianna Pena led the charge with a dominant offensive performance, recording her second hat trick of the season. Pena struck twice in the opening half to give Richard Bland control heading into the break and later sealed the win in the 87th minute with her third goal, assisted by Shani Priestly.

 

The Statesmen were relentless in attack, outshooting USC Sumter 21–4 and holding a commanding 14–0 advantage in corner kicks. Ingrid Garcia and Jade Perkins each added assists, while Garcia, Priestly, and Sara Sparks kept the Fire Ants' defense under constant pressure with multiple shots on goal.

 

Freshman goalkeeper Allyson Klotz secured the win in goal, anchoring a back line that limited Sumter's chances throughout the match., with one save.

 

Richard Bland will return to action on Wednesday, October 15th at USC Lancaster. Kickoff is scheduled for 3pm.
