Richard Bland Falls To Surry (N.C.) 3-0, Wake Tech (N.C.) 3-0

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Richard Bland College dropped a pair of women's volleyball matches played at Wake Technical Community College on Friday evening in Raleigh, North Carolina.  The Statesmen fell to Surry (N.C.) Community College, 3-0, with set scores of 12-25, 16-25 and 22-25, before falling to Wake Tech, 3-0, with set scores of 18-25, 17-25 and 17-25.  Richard Bland has completed its inaugural season with a record of 2-17.

Freshman Hollie Hill/Buchanan led Richard Bland against Surry with seven kills, while classmates Alexis Lyons/Prince George and Avery Munden/Chesterfield contributed 12 assists and six kills, respectively.

Freshman Emma Eggleton/Chesterfield led the Statesmen against Wake Tech with six kills and four service aces, while Lyons added 15 assists and sophomore McKenzi Thorne/Chester had four kills.

Richard Bland could return as many as eight letter winners for 2018, along with three team members who took redshirt seasons this fall.  First-year head coach Scott Newton will have a full year of recruiting, as well, following the addition of the College's sixth sport in mid-April and the appointment of Newton in mid-June.
