Five Straight Wins for Women's Volleyball

By Bryant Marks
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA -- Richard Bland College of William & Mary Women's Volleyball team completed an impressive feat on Tuesday.  They have had five matches in the past six days and are coming home improving their record by five wins.

Now, 8-6, the Statesmen look to have found their groove and are riding it to victory during this 5 game win streak they currently hold.  They match up against no easy opponents this weekend as Northern Virginia Community College and Monroe College (NY) travel to Statesmen Hall for a tri-match.  The RBC women play at 10 am and 2 pm on Saturday, September 28.

The Statesmen opened the match today immediately going to their strengths in their big hitters.  They would outplay Regent in the first set, winning 25-20.  The second set saw a rejuvenated and gritty Regent team, who fought their way back to a set victory as the Statesmen were outhustled and outplayed.  The third set saw the Statesmen come back to form as they would be by six points, 25-19.  The fourth and final set showed the team play the type of way any coach would be proud of, as they pulled together what they had been lacking in the previous sets to dominate the court.  Tabatha Green found her stroke from the service line to cap it off, reeling off 4 aces to end the match for the Statesmen.

Tab Green ended the match with 6 aces, 5 kills, and 2 blocks.  Others contributing to the great play of the Statesmen were Ayanna Swan with 14 kills and 4 blocks and Anna Ney with 34 assists and 2 digs.
