Women's Volleyball Rolls on in South Carolina

ALLENDALE, SC -- Richard Bland College of William & Mary women's volleyball team goes into South Carolina riding a two-game winning streak and leaves adding one more to their record on Tuesday.

RBC will travel to the Empire State on Friday and Saturday to play four matches held at Monroe College.  Those teams will include familiar opponents Montgomery College and Monroe College along with two season-first matchups against Harford Community College and Grand Rapids Community College.  This road trip will end the Statesmen's long week of traveling as they will have traveled over 2,026 miles.  The team will look forward to returning home to Statesmen Hall for their next home matchup against Bryant & Stratton on Tuesday, October 15.

During the match with USC Salkehatchie on Tuesday, the Statesmen entered a dog fight with their opponents.  Their opponents put up quite the fight during the match but the Statesmen would hold the key to victory as they controlled the momentum.  The RBC bench could often be heard overpowering the crowd with their enthusiastic cheers and the players on the court did nothing but bring on more of those cheers.  The team powered through the first two sets but would ease their foot off the pedal in third and drop that set to Salkehatchie.  The fourth set was where the Statesmen made their presence known to the gym.  They would ride the outside hitting of Ayanna Swan to the end of the match with a fourth and final set victory.

The Statesmen can attribute their good play to Ayanna Swan, who had 19 kills, 20 digs, 7 blocks, and 6 aces, Emma Lazerson, who had 12 kills and 8 digs, and Anna Ney, who also had 41 assists and 4 aces.
