SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The #5 Richard Bland College women's volleyball team traveled to Fayetteville Technical community College for a tri-match on Friday, and Cape Fear Community College for another tri-match Saturday morning. After completion of the weekend, the Richard Bland College women's volleyball team moved to 13-1 overall on the season.
In match one at Fayetteville Tech, Richard Bland faced Monroe University of Bronx, NY, defeating the Mustangs 3-1. The set scores were as follows: 21-25, 25-19, 25-21, and 25-22. Lovina Teel and Taelin Connolley led the attack with 17 and 14 kills in the match. Alexis Scipione was credited with 37 assists, eight digs, and three services aces, while Phoebe Heath added 21 dogs, six service aces, and three assists. Gabrielle Meador chipped in with seven kills, four digs, and one service ace, and Jayden Armstrong eight digs, one service ace, and one assist in the win.
In match two at Fayetteville Tech, Richard Bland took on the hosts, Fayetteville Tech, defeating the Trojans 3-0. The set scores were as follows: 25-11, 25-8, and 25-16. Once again Teel led the attack, earning 15 kills in the win, along with Meador nine, and Connolley seven. Teel, Meador, and Connolley totaled 12 digs, five service aces, and one block altogether. Averi Hawtin chipped in with 20 assists and five digs, and Scipione 10 and four. Heath also added 12 digs, two assists, and two service aces in the match.
In match one at Cape Fear, Richard Bland took on the hosts, Cape Fear Community College, defeating the Sea Devils 3-1. The set scores were as follows: 14-25, 25-19, 25-18, and 25-17. Meador led the way with 13 kills, 12 digs, and one service ace. Connolley followed closely behind with 12 kills, 15 digs, five service aces, and two assists, while Teel had 12 kills and two digs. Scipione tallied 41 assists, 13 digs, and four kills in the match. Heath earned 20 digs and two assists, Peyton Ostenson five kills and four digs, Aliyah Millner five kills, and Rachelle Martin four digs.
In match two at Cape Fear, Richard Bland competed against USC Lancaster, defeating the Lancers 3-1, with the following set scores; 25-19, 25-20, 13-25, and 25-20. The Statesmen tallied 49 kills in the match; Meador had 15, Teel 14, Connolley 13, Scipione four, Ostenson two, and Millner one. Meador also added 15 digs and Connolley 11. Scipione assisted on 37 occasions and added 13 digs, and Phoebe Heath notched 16 digs, four assists, and three service aces.
The Richard Bland College women's volleyball team next travels to Virginia Peninsula Community College on Tuesday, September 17th for a 6pm match.
