Statesmen Sweep Pitt, Bryant & Stratton During Mid-Week Action

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The #4 Richard Bland College women's volleyball team traveled to Pitt Community College Tuesday evening for the first conference match of the season, and hosted Bryant & Stratton College (VA) Wednesday evening in their second conference match of the season. After completion of both evenings, the Richard Bland College women's volleyball team moved to 16-1 overall, and 1-0 in conference play, and is currently on a 11-game win streak.

In the match against Pitt Community College, the Statesmen defeated the Bulldogs 3-0, with set scores of 25-17, 25-20, and 25-13. Taelin Connolley was a monster on attack with 18 kills on the evening, followed closely behind by Lovina Teel with 13 kills, 14 dogs, and two service aces, and Gabrielle Meador with 12 kills, 13 digs, four service aces, and one block. Alexis Scipione tallied 44 assists and five digs on the day.

In the match against Bryant & Stratton College, the Statesmen defeated the Bobcats 3-0, with set scores of 25-14, 25-7, and 25-13. Teel led the attack with 12 kills, Connolley seven, Meador five, Aliyah Millner four, Peyton Ostenson two, and Scipione one. Connelly led on the defensive end with eight digs, Meador six, Scipione five, and Jayden Armstrong and Teel four each. Alexis Scipione also added 26 assists on the day.

The Richard Bland College women's volleyball team next travels to Bryant & Stratton College (VA) for a pod, tri-match on Saturday, September 28^th. Richard Bland will take on Louisburg College at 12pm and Wake Technical Community College at 2pm.
