Statesmen Earn Two Road Sweeps Over Weekend

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The #4 Richard Bland College women's volleyball team traveled to Virginia Beach, Virginia Saturday afternoon for pod-play hosted by Bryant & Stratton College (VA). After completion of the weekend, the Richard Bland College women's volleyball team moved to 18-1 overall, and 3-0 in conference play, and is currently on a 13-game win streak.

 

In their first match of the day, Richard Bland faced Louisburg College, the Statesmen defeated the Hurricanes 3-0, with set scores of 25-19, 25-11, and 25-7. Taelin Connolley led the attack with 17 kills in the match, along with Lovina Teel with 10, and Gabrielle Meador and Peyton Ostenson with seven each. Alexis Scipione tallied 43 assists, while Meador added seven digs, Jayden Armstrong, Lovina Teel, and Phobe Heath five digs each. Heath was also credited with five service aces.

 

In their second match of the day, Richard Bland faced Wake Technical Community College, the Statesmen defeated the Eagles 3-0, with set scores of 25-17, 25-16, and 25-20. Meador led the attack with 13 kills and also added six digs, one block, and one assist. Connolley followed closely behind with 12 kills, 11 digs, and one service ace. Phoebe Heath tallied 11 digs, two assists, and one service ace in the match, while Alexis Scipione had 32 assists, five digs, and four service aces. Teel added eight kills, four digs, two assists, and one service ace in the win.

 

The Richard Bland College women's volleyball team next travels to Lenoir Community College on Wednesday, October 2nd for a 6pm conference match with the Lancers.
