Statesmen Push Win Streak to 16

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The #6 Richard Bland College women's volleyball team traveled to Kinston, North Carolina Saturday afternoon for a conference match with the Lancers of Lenoir Community College, and Shelby, North Carolina Saturday afternoon for a conference pod, tri-match against Southwest Virginia Community College and Cleveland Community College. After completion of the weekend, the Richard Bland College women's volleyball team moved to 21-1 overall, and 6-0 in conference play, and is currently on a 16-game win streak.

 

In the match on Wednesday, Richard Bland defeated Lenoir Community College 3-0, with set scores of 25-20, 25-16, and 25-18. Lovina Teel led the way with 15 kills and seven digs in the match. Gabrielle Meador was credited with 13 kills, nine digs, and two service aces, while Taelin Connolley had nine kills, seven digs, and four service aces. Alexis Scipione tallied 37 assists and four digs, and Phoebe Heath 10 digs and three assists in the win.

 

In match one on Saturday, Richard Bland defeated the Flying Eagles of Southwest Virginia Community College 3-0, with set scores of 25-9, 25-15, and 25-15. Three Statesmen tallied double-digit kills in the win; Connolley 14, Meador 13, and Teel 11. Phoebe Heath was a monster on defense notching 24 digs, while Alexis Scipione tallied 43 assists and nine digs in the match.

 

In match two on Saturday, Richard Bland defeated the Yetis of Cleveland Community College 3-0, with set scores on 25-17, 25-21, and 25-20. Meador and Connolley led the attack once again with 14 kills each, and Teel 12 for Richard Bland. Meador, Connolley, and Teel also totaled 38 kills together, while Heath was credited with 16 digs, three assists, and three service aces. Scipione assisted on 38 occasions and also had nine digs in the win.

 

The Richard Bland College women's volleyball team next travels Brant & Stratton College (VA) on Wednesday, October 9th for a 6pm conference match.
