Women’s Volleyball Earns Win Over FTCC Friday, Defeats Cape Fear on Sophomore Day

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The #5 Richard Bland College women's volleyball team hosted Fayetteville Technical Community College Friday evening, and Cape Fear Community College Saturday afternoon. Prior to the start of Saturday's match, the team recognized their three sophomores; Phoebe Heath, Alexis Scipione, and Peyton Ostenson. After completion of the weekend, the Richard Bland College women's volleyball team moved to 26-1 overall, and 11-0 in conference play, and is currently on a 21-game win streak.
In Friday's match, Richard Bland defeated the Trojans of Fayetteville Technical Community College 3-0, with set scores of 25-16, 25-14, and 25-10. The Statesmen totaled 41 kills, 39 assists, 36 digs, and 13 service aces on the day. Lovina Teel, Taelin Connolley, and Gabrielle Meador led the attack woth 11, 10, and nine kills. Aliyah Millner chipped in with five, Averi Hawtin four, and Peyton Ostenson two. Phoebe Heath led in digs with 14, while Averi Hawtin tallied 36 assists, six service aces, and two digs.
In Saturday's match, Richard Bland Richard Bland took down the Sea Devils of Cape Fear Community College 3-1, with set scores of 25-13, 25-16, 21-25, and 25-14. The Statesmen totaled 64 digs, 50 kills, 49 assists, and 12 service aces in the match, Connolley was on fire with 20 kills, and also added seven digs, while Teel tallied 16 kills and nine digs. Alexis Scipione was credited with 38 assists and 21 digs in the win.
The Richard Bland College women's volleyball team next travels to Iowa Central Community College to close out the regular season for a two-day weekend of ranked volleyball matches. Richard Bland will take on #2 Kirkwood Community College and #16 Kansas City Kansas Community College Friday, October 25th, and #1 Cowley County Community College and #11 Iowa Central Community College Saturday, October 26th.
