Women’s Volleyball Falls in NJCAA Championship Quarterfinals, Looks to Battle for 3rd Place
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The #4 Richard Bland College women's volleyball team competed against #5 Heartland Community College this evening in the Quarterfinal round of the NJCAA National Championship. After completion of the evening, the Richard Bland College women's volleyball team moved to 32-5 overall and have moved into the consolation bracket of the NJCAA National Championship, to battle for 3rd place.
In the match, Richard Bland fell to the Hawks of Heartland Community College 1-3, with set scores of 25-22, 15-25, 16-25, and 21-25. Lovina Teel led the Statesmen with 15 kills, seven digs, and one assist. Gabrielle Meador followed closely behind with 14 kills, five digs, one assist, and one service ace. Taelin Connolley was credited with 126 digs, 12 kills, and one service ace. Alexis Scipione earned 25 assists, and Averi Hawtin 14, while Phoebe Heat chipped in with 13 digs and three assists on the day.
The Richard Bland College women's volleyball team will next take on #11 Kansas City Kansas Community College tomorrow, November 22nd at 12pm EST/11am CT in the consolation bracket. With a win, the Statesmen will advance to the next phase of the consolation bracket and play the winner of #8 Illinois Central and #10 Iowa Central at 7pm EST/6pm CT.
