RBC Athletics Introduces Esports for Fall 2024
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Athletic Department is excited to announced the official launch of Esports, starting Fall 2024. This innovative program aligns perfectly with the growing popularity of competitive gaming and opportunities that Richard Bland College will begin to offer academically and athletically.
The Richard Bland College Esports program will offer competitive varsity teams in a variety of popular titles, with specific names to be announced soon. Student-athletes will compete against Region 10 contenders Wake Technical Community College, Johnston Community College, Guilford Technical Community College, and many other NJCAA institutions, fostering teamwork, communication, and strategic thinking.
The Esports program will be housed on campus in the Academic Innovation Center, equipped with gaming equipment and comfortable seating for players, and spectators. The dedicated space will foster a sense of community and provide student-athletes with the resources they need to excel.
Richard Bland College is actively recruiting talented gamers to join its inaugural Esports Team. Interested students can visit the Richard Bland College Athletics website or contact esports@rbc.edu, for more information. A search for an Esports Coach will begin in the near future.
Eligibility Requirements:
To play on the varsity level teams, students must be enrolled full time in the Fall 2024 semester (12 or more credit hours) and have a 2.0 GPA or higher. If new, first year student/participant, cumulative GPA requirements are not required.

The Richard Bland Esports Arena is located in the newly renovated, Academic Innovation Center. The Academic Innovation Center is located in the Commons Building, next to Parsons Café and the Grove Campus Market.
