Baseball Goes 2-1 in Lenoir Series

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Baseball team moves to 6-2 overall, 2-1 in conference play after their three-game series with Lenoir Community College Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

 

In game one on Saturday afternoon, fell 2-5 to Lenoir Community College, despite out-hitting them eight to seven. Lenoir was the first to get on the board in the second inning. Carter Jones and Jordan Ramsey were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Richard Bland. Darren Osborne began the game for the Statesmen, giving up four hits and three runs over three innings, striking out four and walking four. Charlie Rohr pitched four innings in relief for Richard Bland. The right-handed pitcher allowed three hist ad two runs while striking out six and walking none.

 

In game two on Saturday afternoon, Michael Duncan drove in four runs on one hit to lead Richard Bland past Lenoir Community College, 9-5. In the seventh inning, Duncan hit a grand slam to center field. Richard Bland got on the board in the second inning after Jordan Ramsey grounded out, scoring one run. Matthew Boyd stepped on the hill first for the Statesmen. Boyd allowed one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out three and walking three. Macho Santiago and Jackson Hulcher each appeared in relief for Richard Bland. Ashur Caraher went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the offense. Caraher also stole three bases in the game.

 

In game three on Sunday afternoon, Richard Bland took over … Lenoir got on the board in the top of the first inning, but the Statesmen fought back as Caraher homered to left field to tie the game at two in the bottom of the first. A single by Landon Scott gave Richard Bland the 4-2 lead, in the bottom of the second. Richard Bland piled up 16 hits in the game. Jaden Groome set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Richard Bland with four hits in six at bats. Macho Santiago went 1-for-5 at the plate, with three runs batted in. Maddaux Childress, Samuel Young, Caraher, and Michael Duncan each collected multiple hits for the Statesmen. Keegan Mahoney stepped on the bump first for Richard Bland. The left-handed pitcher surrendered one hit and two runs over two innings, striking out one and walking three. Dylan Jones tossed three innings of no-runs in relief. The righty surrendered zero hits, striking out four and walking one.

 

The Richard Bland College baseball team next hosts Montgomery College (MD) on Wednesday, February 21st in a single, nine inning game. First pitch is set for 2pm.
