#4 STATESMEN GETS BOOST FROM BATES AND UGBA, OUTLASTS STORM

PETERSBURG, VA, February 26, 2014- The #4 Richard Bland College Statesmen rebounded tonight against Tidewater Community College, 99-73.

 The Statesmen started out strong by outscoring the visiting Storm by a margin of 23 points midway through the first half. The Statesmen led at intermission 56-22. The Statesmen were led in scoring by Evan Bates with 23 points including four shots from downtown, Avery Ugba added 21 points and eight rebounds , Micah Thomas scored 18 points and Melvin Gregory poured in 10 points. The Storm was led by Byron Williams and Zackery Marshall who registered 16 and 13 points respectively. The keys of the game for the Statesmen were rebounding (41-20) and three point shooting 11-28 (39%), which affected the visitor's ability to stay in the game.

The Statesmen will wrap the regular season on the road Saturday, March 1, 2014 for a 3:00 pm tip-off against Louisburg College. This game will determine the regular season conference champions.
