RICHARD BLAND RENOVATES GYM FLOOR FOR 2015
PETERSBURG, Va. – Renovation is underway for the Richard Bland College gymnasium floor. Construction began on Monday, Dec. 8th as construction workers brought in pilates of hardwood and machines to get the process going on the new hardwood floor in Statesman Hall.
The new floor system will feature glossy maple hardwood with the Statesmen shield logo at center court while the lettering of the word "Statesmen" will be spread along the baseline areas underneath the two goals.
"I am very excited about the new floor being put in place, having the hardwood will minimize the wear and tear on our athletes," said Athletic Director and head men's basketball coach Chuck Moore.
"Renovation to the floor will benefit not only the student-athletes but everyone here at Richard Bland College."
Prior to the new floors being installed, the gymnasium included two basketball playing courts, two main basketball goals as well as an additional four goals for practices and camps which all will remain once the floors has been completed.
The project is set to be completed by January 6, 2015.
